Oh look it's me doing a stunt, well Okay it's not me...it's just something I want to do. To be hung like 50 feet with a single wire. Though I'm really scared of heights :)
Yay, everyone should moisturize their hair like that. With special home made formulas, not the commercial kind where they try to scam you for oatmeal. Oops, did I say that out loud?
Hey everyone! It's the MOST beautiful girl of all time. It's Grace Kelly, or more commonly known as Princess Grace of Monaco. Let's see, she was a star, she was from an affluent family, she had kids, she's a natural beauty, she's an Oscar winner, she's done tonnes of movies. I first saw her in Rear Window where she was breathtakingly beautiful :)
Oh, let's figure out how THIS computer works. Oh wait, I'm stumped, is that the round button or the square one?
Every so often, something cool in the scope of Phoebe will be featured here. This could be something I learnt, maybe at school, from other people, or just the tossing of my ideas. Treat it as Phoebe's spotlight scope on something cool......or something like that.
Just some wandering thoughts when people ask Why did you disappear from TF and Quake?
Recently, I was asked or invited to join a clan. Which I thought was really cool, since I guess my less than stellar resume actually got someone interested. But nonetheless, I cannot accept. Because TF is not my cup of tea. Not anymore at least.
When I started to play "games" other than Solitare and Minesweeper. Well actually, I was awful in both of those games. So awful, it detered me from using the computer for another couple years :) But anyway. One of my first experiences with a "game" is actually just on this thing called Mplayer. My friend in Vancouver, had told me it was pretty cool. Being an IRC pro at that time. I decided to go, well why not. I started playing some games, most of them pale I guess to what we have now. Because Mplayer back then was still in its infancy. I played a little game called Quake. Quake was fun. It was very male, I mean deathmatch, the only popular form of game back then was very male driven. It is truly a representation of male testosterone and egoes clashing.
So my brother, guided me towards TeamFortress. TF was great, it added the element that there is actually a purpose, and with maps like Canalzone, The Rock, and stuff, I could easily say I was interested big time. But then TF was reduced to 2fort style, which I came to abhor. Right about this time, I was trying to get into a very very presitigous clan, having left a fairly good one. Well, to make another long story short, I was refused. like 3 months later refused. From this, my experiences with Ultima Online and my wild wacky imagination, I envisioned something a bit more. Something, even my story can't say reveal.
Just imagine, you plug yourself in, I don't care, virtual reality, a seat, a monitor, a TV screen, a toaster, whatever. What do you want? You want entertainment, a game, a movie, a good jolt of your senses. And you land in your apartment on this, space station, or some world. And you walk out, you have no idea why you're here. You walk around, and notice that people are at a state of war. Merchants are profitting from it, but you can also sign up for greater glory for the Marines, the Navy, the Air Force, whatever. It's all your choice. Missions, I guess games, or servers, or whatever, would be scheduled by the computer or by other people.
Like for one, it could be going to a space station and boarding it, and your troop carrier could be under attack. You might have to be the engineer, figure through the mess of wires, how to fix it and reroute power or something. Or you could be like this gunner, fending off the enemy, or the person in the interceptor warding off the missiles or something. Everyone would fight, everyone would take part, and the game would know what you like most, and try to guide you to situations and things you like. For example, if you like puzzles and stuff, you get more "puzzles". Puzzles can be used to customize ships, say you spend 10 hours perfecting your engine and stuff, you could have this super fast ship and skip all those bad guys in space.
One really bad thing Quake, and other games like that have introduced, but Specops and Outwars champion is like the value of life. Life is precious in the real world. None of us would, in their right mind, jump in front of a rocket launcher. Being shot in the arm, and unable to shoot straight, with like five minutes to hit the ship will really shoot up your adrenaline. Add the fact your ship can't even fly, and that your friend is still fixing it while the crew discourages bombers from above. The possibilities could be endless. If not bombers this time, the enemy knows you might not survive a full out ground assault. Or something to that effect.
One thing that Specops does great is realism. Realism in that, the environment is real. When you put on night vision, the tracers of the guns light up the sky. The helicopters sound like they are hovering above you, you need to reload a lot, you need to conserve your ammo, and always duck. When you blow up say like a buliding in Specops, if you move away, you'll see people running towards it, shouting, probably questioning what the hell just happened. That's when you make your move.
Of course, many of you by now will say, "She's crazy. This will never happen in my lifetime." Well, not to burst your bubble but 100 years ago, people couldn't dream of telephones. 10 years ago, people were latched onto their beepers. Now, we can call Mom or Dad from the middle of the Sahara desert. The dilemma is not, whether we can do it, the dilemma is, whether we can imagine it. God took 6 days to create the world. How long will it takes us to make the definitive entertainment experience?
