Yay, it's me trying to fiddle with the back of my computer.

Hopefully coming soon I'll have some cool pictures of games that I've played.  But right now, I have NO idea how to get them in.  So if you want to help just send me mail at [email protected].

So what does the Renaissance girl like me do other than play with my hair and keep my shoes in vogue?  Well, ever since.... say like 2 years ago, I think my computer skills have increased tenfold.  It's like one of those corporate profit things, I'm increasing like 100% every month almost.   There's THAT much to learn in the world of computers.

From what I know, girls are this rarefied object on the net.   It's really a pity, because the net is so good for lots of things.  It does come with its pains.  Like the first time I played Quake, people were all either interested in kicking me out of the game because I was some incompetent girl (and I was since I didn't know how to move) or they were interested in dating me (?!?!??).  I play, or played, TeamFortress since last April I guess.  It was much much better than plain old deathmatch.  Which is senseless violence really.  I was stuck in TF land for awhile until Q2 came out.  Q2 really sparked my interest, but it took them like 1 whole month just to get Co-op out.  By that time, I was blasting stormtroopers and taking over platforms, defending transports and getting my convoy boarded in Mysteries of the Sith.  A really ultra cool game.  Just remember all those scenes of Star Wars, like the monster Luke fights off in Return of the Jedi.  With Mysteries of the Sith, you're there, like Luke (only your Kyle or a cooler feminine character).

In the meantime, my UO subscription was almost up.   UO is a very very interesting game.  What it lacks in grace and style, it makes up for the large variety and unlimited potential.  It's just so expansive and encompassing and caters to such a wide range of audience.  Unfortunately, like many people have complained, it is TOO slow for a game.  I mean, I'd love to spend 5 hours, but not to kill a rabbit.  I love the concept, but when put to the test, the idea needs a bit of tinkering.  UO is definitely on the right track though, I personally think.

The next one that is really cool is Warhammer Dark Omen.   This game puts you in trust of a mercenary army, and you have to control the regiments and what not in a very engrossing (German) plot.  It's very cool, and if you ever wanted to command troops like in Braveheart, you can here.  It's all "Charge!" and "Slaughter!" and stuff like that.  Way cool, and lots of stuff like, let's flank them or countercharge with calvary (calvary rules all).

Another related game is the game of Myth which puts your army down to say a regiment.  Myth depends much more on tactics than large scale regiment placing.  It is very pretty, and much more challenging I would guess, because in Myth every man counts.  In Dark Omen, I can lose a couple regiments.

The next game is SpecOps, which is just the COOLEST game possible.  Ever want to do those things in the movie?  This is your ticket to the silver screen.  When I loaded this game up, the crickets, and the night sounded soo real, I thought it was crickets from my house (but it was from the game).  It is way cool and not just guns blazing style like Quake.  It challenges you to skirt around people, the use your snoopers, when your shot, you prone, flip on snoopers and pick off enemies.  You have objectives to achieve in an alotted amount of time.  And believe me, when you have 1 minute left, the excitement level just goes up the roof.   It's THAT good.  Suppression fire, professional elite tactics, this game has it all.

If you don't like all that realism but still like that kind of game, there is Outwars.  Outwars is much more Starship Troopers like in that you fight bugs...lots of them!  Most of the time you're outnumbered but you have superior technology.  It's very cool to slap in a rocket, aim, and fire at a bunch of bugs then jump with your jumpjets onto another place and start firing.  What's cool about this is the flexibility and the amount of people that fight with you.  But most of the time, promised troops, like in real life, never make it, and you're on your own.

Starcraft.  Wow.  I've never played a game quite like it.  It's really cool, the cinematics are cool, the storyline is cool, you just have to play and play.  It might not look great compared to all those games I mentioned, but it's fun.  And what fun it is.  Right now I'm just designing missions for this game.  So if you're looking for my creations..just stay tuned :)
